 INDUS RIVER(Sindhu nadi)
Meaning:

The name india is originally derived from the name of the river sindhu (Indus river) official name of the republic of India was derived from the Sanskrit name Sindhu that referred to Indus river.


An asian river that rises in Tibet and flows through northern India and then south west through kashmir and Pakistan to arabian sea.

  • . Sutlej: 

Origin: Mansarovar Rakaslakes (Tibet)near Mt.kailas. 

It flows generally west and south west through the region of Punjab.The region to it's south and east is dry ...its known as thar desert.

Bhakara Nangal dam is also on Sutlej river.


Beas: (vipasha)

Origin: Beas near Rohtang pass (H.P)

Flows through Kullu and Manali Entirely within India.

Ravi:

Origin: Rohtang pass Kullu hills (H.P)

Flows as Indo-Pak border
It's a trans-boundary river.

Chenab:

Origin:Baralaccha pass (H.P)

It is formed by two streams,the chandra and Bhaga, which join at tandi near keylong in H.P its known as Chandrabhaga the river flows for 1,180km before entering into Pakistan.

Jhelum

Origin: veriang, kashmir
Flows through Srinagar and wular lake
 
Wular lake is one of largest fresh water 💦 lakes in Asia the lake basin was formed as result of tectonic activity is fed by Jhelum river.

Jhelum is known for providing many soldiers to the British army before independence and later to Pakistan armed forces due to which it know City of soldiers.

Mangla dam is on Jhelum river.

(Panjnad river in Punjab province, Pakistan,, formed just below Uch by successive junction of the Sutlej,Beas, Ravi, Jhelum,and Chenab.The panjnad (five river) flows 44miles south west to its junction with indus river nearMithankot.

Shyok:(River of death)

Shyok river originates at rimo glacier one of the tongue of siachen glacier.

It flows through northern ladakh and enters Gilgit -baltistan.

Shyok valley is a valley of shyok river which close to Nubra.

Gilgit river rises from High alpine glacier
In area where the Hindu Kush , Karakoram range and western Himalayas (punjab) meet

It flows north and then east & the south east of town the river is joined by hunza river.

Gilgit total course is 150 miles (240km)

Kabul :

Kabul river that starts in the Sanglakh range of Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan and ends in the indus river near attock, Pakistan.

Kabul is known for his garden ,bazzar,and palaces.

Gomal:

Gomal rivers 400km long river in Afghanistan & Pakistan the river was described in Ramayan, as gomti river.


Kurram:


Kurram river originates from watershed of kohe sofaid in kurram district, flows through north Waziristan district, Khyber, Pakistan and join river Indus near Isa khel.
